CSERC sponsors an annual photo contest to raise interest in wildlife and to encourage everyone to take notice of the beauty of nature in our region. Cash prizes will be awarded in the Wildlife Photo category and in the Natural Landscape Photo category.
Between now and May 15th anyone may submit up to 10 photos that they’ve taken to compete for the $150 first-place prize in two separate categories - as well as other cash prizes. For adult entries, the second and third place prizes are $75 and $50, respectively in both categories.
CSERC is also accepting entries from “youth” photographers 16 years of age and younger in the Youth category. A cash prize of $100 will be awarded to the best photo in either category as well as one Honorable Mention.
Wildlife photo entries need to be of wildlife native to our region which stretches from the San Joaquin Valley to the crest of the Sierra Nevada. Similarly, the Natural Landscape photo entries must be pictures of natural landscapes in our region
Contest details and rules:
Contestants must send .jpg digital photos to [email protected] at the Center. Photos should be sent at HIGH OR HIGHEST RESOLUTION. All pictures submitted will be eligible for use in CSERC’s educational and website materials, but photographers retain all commercial rights to their photos beyond that outreach use by CSERC.
Contestants should include their contact information with all entries so that CSERC can send the prizes to the winning contestants. Announcement of the winning photos will be revealed on the CSERC website on Thursday, May 18th and the top 20 photos will be featured on the CSERC website.
Each contestant is limited to a total maximum of 10 photos entries, regardless of category. No photos submitted for any previous CSERC photo contests may be considered again this year. ONLY NEW ENTRIES WILL QUALIFY.
All photos must be the original work, taken by the contestant and cannot be Photoshopped or altered in any way.
