Volunteers Made a Big Difference in 2014!

Wrapping up another successful season of volunteer stewardship

Thanks to our volunteers, 2014 was another highly positive year for CSERC’s diverse restoration projects. We had over 140 participants join with CSERC staff to complete 18 separate projects.

volunteersclaveyFor the past four years, CSERC has stepped up its commitment to leading important ecological restoration work on public lands (strongly partnering with key staff in the Stanislaus Forest). We put a priority focus on restoring areas where sensitive habitats and watershed health were being degraded. Projects in 2014 ranged from blocking and naturalizing illegal off-road vehicle routes, to pulling invasive bull thistle close to pristine Wilderness areas, to building and maintaining fences to protect meadow habitat from grazing and vehicle damage.

We are proud that this year CSERC accomplished more workdays with volunteers than in any previous year. The workdays obviously benefit the environment, but they also help get people actively involved in being stewards of the land. Then there’s the fun of working alongside others who share ecological values and are willing to donate time to make a difference. Be sure to plan ahead to next year!
