CSERC announces the start of our 2019 photo contest with a additional category this year for scenic landscape photos!

It’s time for CSERC’s annual nature photo contest!  While we have requested wildlife photos in previous contests, we’re excited to announce that we will also be accepting photos of natural landscapes this year.  We hope you’ll share your great outdoor experiences with us, whether they include wildlife encounters or inspiring views of natural scenery.  Cash prizes will be awarded in both categories.

Beyond encouraging people to engage with nature, this photo contest provides us with material for our educational programs, articles, and online kids’ games.  As a small nonprofit, we appreciate the use of high quality photos to raise public interest and inspire appreciation for natural resources.  When we present compelling school programs, we can see the positive impact of these beautiful photos in the excitement on the students’ faces.  The submissions we receive are used only for educational and conservation purposes, and photographers retain all commercial rights to their photos.

In the two adult categories - Wildlife and Landscape - the cash prizes are $100, $50, and Honorable Mention for the top three entries in each category.  In the youth category, the winners of the best wildlife and landscape photos will each receive $50.  Individuals 18 and under qualify in this category.

Summary of contest rules:

  • Photo entries should be e-mailed as a .jpg or .png file to: [email protected]
  • Photos should be sent at high or highest resolution.  Only minimal, realistic editing (cropping, exposure, contrast etc) will be accepted.
  • Each contestant is limited to a maximum of 10 photo entries, regardless of content/category.  No photos submitted in previous CSERC wildlife photo contest may be considered again this year.
  • Only photos of natural landscapes and native wildlife in the Central Valley, foothills and the Sierra Nevada are eligible for prizes. Captive and domestic animals do not qualify. Please do not disturb wildlife to obtain photos.
