Tuolumne County Supervisors approved the proposed 20-year General Plan, despite opposition

Despite opposition from the public, Tuolumne County Supervisors approved the General Plan Update on January 3rd. The Plan has been in development of 6 years, but was redrafted in 2015 due to public concerns. The most recent iteration of the General Plan Update faced opposition for its vague and unenforceable wording, lack of environmental protections, and failure to address concerns about development in high fire risk areas, among other reasons. Public hearings were held on Dec. 19 and Jan. 3, dates when many concerned citizens were unable to attend due to the holidays and travel plans, so that the current Board of Supervisors could vote before the newly elected Supervisors could take office. They voted unanimously to support the General Plan Update. Read more here.
