Educational “games for kids” on CSERC website draw thousands

When CSERC was first launched as an environmental non-profit center, few people had cell phones, and many people skeptically perceived computers to be too technical and difficult to use. How dramatically things have changed! Today three-year-olds often learn from their parents how to play games on cell phones, and even young elementary school students use computers with ease.

In this evolving digital world, CSERC attempts to use our website to reach young people by providing various educational games that are both fun and informative.

Just in 2017, analytics have documented that our overall CSERC website has had 422,000 pageviews, 320,000 unique pageviews, and 164,000 entrances. Surprisingly, what the data also shows is that the most visited section of our website is our ‘games for kids” – such as the “Watershed Game” page shown above. In that game, players learn about the Water Cycle, learn about Watersheds, and then make choices to Help Clean Up the Watershed.

CSERC’S games for kids range from the “Watershed Game” to “Find the Wildlife” to “Build a Food Chain” and other options.

Like our slide shows, games that connect kids with nature and the natural world around them will hopefully lead to young people becoming more environmentally responsible adults – and better stewards of our precious planet
