The winner of CSERC's wildlife photo contest, Peggy Sells, spends a good amount of her free time trying to find elusive wildlife to photograph in our region. During a visit to Pinecrest Lake, she overheard some people talking about how a vulture was down on the ice at the lake acting mysteriously. As she peered down to where they were looking, she realized the bird being described was actually an immature bald eagle and it was indeed behaving oddly.
Grabbing her camera and sneaking down closer for a better angle, she quickly saw that this eagle was trying to catch fish trapped underneath the ice, and that she was in for a rare photographer's treat! Peggy began snapping pictures, and the sequence below tells the daring story of this inventive eagle, as well as captures some great shots of the magestic raptor. Scroll down and enjoy!
