CSERC: Volunteers unite to protect a fen in Sapps Meadow
Since 1990
Volunteers unite!
Another successful fencing project helps to protect an amazing fen.

It happened again! This past weekend, CSERC volunteers, the Forest Service, and Summerville High Ecology Club members rejoined at Sapps Meadow in a successful effort to finish building a major area of fence. The purpose of the log fence is to prevent cattle grazing and trampling from harming a large and delicate fen that holds a significant population of the rare carnivorous plant, sundew.
Understanding the delicate nature of fens and the importance of protecting this type of meadow habitat, CSERC has invested time, tools, and energy towards making sure the need for protection becomes a reality.
